There has been on going debates about the importance of taking rental insurance, when you are renting an automobile. Many believe that their own car insurance will cover them while they are driving a rental and other feel that the credit card they use to rent the car offers them protection. Somethings that you should take into consideration is that rental companies only push this rental insurance for two reasons; the first is so that they will make extra money on your rental and the second is so that the rental insurance will protect their car. In the end, their car is all that is important to them.

The following are some of the most common questions that people have about this type of insurance and the answers may surprise you.

Q: WILL MY REGULAR CAR INSURANCE COVER ME WHILE I AM USING A RENTAL?

A: YES….Many insurance companies will still cover you when you are driving in a rental car. However, it is advisable that you contact your insurance company, prior to picking up your rental vehicle, just to make sure that is so. Otherwise you will not be completely confident that you will be covered and may spend money, on rental insurance from the rental company, you could have otherwise saved.

Q: IF I USE A CREDIT CARD FOR MY CAR RENTAL, WONT THAT COVER ME FOR ANY DAMAGES?

A: YES and NO….Most of the major credit card companies, such as Visa, MasterCard or Discover, offer you additional insurance protection when you use the card to rent a vehicle. Because this may not apply for all credit cards companies you should check with your credit company prior to renting your car. This will give you a piece of mind when turning down the rental insurance for the rental car company.

Q: IF I FIND OUT THAT I AM COVERED UNDER MY OWN CAR INSURANCE AND MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY SHOULD I STILL TAKE OUT THE CAR RENTAL INSURANCE?

A: This is a definite NO! Most car rental companies will try and convince you that you are only covered if you take their insurance out, but this could not be further from the truth. The insurance that you are provided by your credit card and insurance companies will offer you all the insurance that you are required to have while driving a rental. Rental companies only push their own insurance as a way to make more money offer of the rental of a car.

So before yo arrive at the rental car company to pick up your vehicle check with your insurance and credit car companies to see what you are covered for. This will make you more confident when you refuse the rental companies insurance and you will be saving a lot of money.

If you want to understand how to use ETFs, spend less time on trading and generate the returns you want there are three things you need to know. How ETFs trade, the cost of trading in them, and their benefits. This article will cover those points and show you why you want to make them part of your stock market strategy.

ETFs Are Traded The Same Way You Trade Stocks

ETF’s are a collection of assets that mirror the performance of an index.

Each ETF has its own ticker symbol and expense ratio. And like any stock you trade in the ETF the same way you do a stock. It can be used for day trading, swing trading or even held for long term. Unlike mutual funds you can trade an ETF throughout the day without incurring financial penalties. And the nice thing about them is that they are priced by the market not their net asset value.

Inexpensive

Because you escape the trading restriction of mutual funds where you pay a fee if don’t hold for a stated time, you can make the decision to buy, hold, or sell whenever you want. ETFs are structured to have a lower expense ratio (operating costs, including management fees, expressed as a percentage of the fund’s average net assets for a given time period)

There are additional brokerage and transaction costs not included in expense ratios. Mutual funds typically charge 1 -3 per cent while an ETF charges only .1 to 1 per cent.

Advantages

ETFs originally tracked indexes such as the S&P 500. They now mirror industry groups or sectors as well. This means you don’t deal with the underlying asset’s contract details. The ETF does that for you. And although similar to mutual fund they tend to have lower taxes than mutual funds. On a practical note they allow you to deal in different markets without opening multiple accounts.

This article has shown the attraction of trading in ETFs. You’ve learned how they are traded, their costs, and their benefits. Now is the time to take advantage of that and consider making them part of your overall stock market strategy.

Backpackers insurance is great when planning to take a backpacking holiday, as it allows up to 18 months of coverage for long term trips. For people like students who are studying or working abroad, traveling insurance can also be useful, as long as you make sure all the countries you are visiting are covered in the policy. Be sure to check if you EHIC card is valid in certain areas, such as third-world countries where coverage may be more difficult to attain.

If throwing on a backpack, sticking out your thumb or buying a train pass is your idea of a great holiday - well, there is an insurance policy for you too. Backpackers insurance will cover injuries and accidents in multiple countries. However, before purchasing one it’s important to double-check that these the countries you plan to visit are covered - many third-world ones are not. If your work requires you to travel abroad you should consider taking out business insurance. This type of policy can cover business equipment such as laptops and PDAs and business documents. Some policies also cover the travel expenses if you are taken ill and another member of staff has to fly out and take your place. Something that insurance provided by your employer may not.

Many standard insurance policies have an upper age limit (usually this is 65). Once you breach this limit travel insurance can turn into further expensive as you are careful a higher risk. In this situation you should seek insurance from providers who specialize in cheap travel insurance for the over 65s. Regardless of your age if you have any pre-existing medical conditions it is vital to let your insurance company know before buying the insurance. Such a condition is likely to increase the cost of your policy but it is a little fee to pay; if you fail to declare any medical issues your insurance policy is unlikely to cover you and this could result in a large bill for any medical treatment.

The prospect of traveling, whether within the country or abroad, can be very exciting. There are so many places to go and things to do! It’s a little easy to get carried away with planning events and there may be a need to adjust the budget a time or two accordingly. When preparing for travel, it is wise to keep in mind ways to keep the costs down. There are many ways to decrease expenses and have a pleasant trip.

There are, however, some things that should not be skimped on. One of these is Travel Insurance. It may be fun to frequent a local market a time or to rather than the fancy eatery. But while insurance may seem like an expense that you can forego and the likelihood is great that you won’t have occasion to use it, it is a precaution that you should be prudent to work into your budget.

You’ll want to determine what advantages you’d like to include and locate a reputable agency. There are quote sites available that allow you to enter specific criteria including age. Within a company there are different plans. Determine what amenities you’ll really need. If you are not carrying sports gear or equipment, for example, you will need a smaller amount of coverage. You may be able to rent some of the equipment when you arrive. Take note to the difference in plans- some have cancellation policies that may cause you to lose out depending on the reason. If you have an unexpected event that causes you to cancel your trip, you should be able to re-book when convenient for you without it costing you again. Some plans refund a voucher, some give back cash. Even if you can’t afford the most expense plan, basic coverage will give you a bit of security and peace of mind so that you can enjoy your trip to the fullest.

To keep the cost down, there are many options available. Many travel agencies have discount program available depending on the age of the travelers. There are plans for the over 65. To take advantage of some of these discounts, it may be as simple as a call to your local agency. Or, you might complete some online searches to compare prices from one company to another.

Often, depending on the trip you’d like to take, there are group rates available for the travel itself or for individual events when you arrive. This is an additional savings that means it may benefit your pocket to travel with friends

By this point in your life, you may have accumulated ‘frequent flier’ miles. These can help with your budget as well so that that you needn’t skimp on the insurance. Be a bit resourceful, do your homework, and you will be able to have the vacation you want.

With a little hunting, on average, the over 65 crowd should be able to arrange at least a 10 or even 15 % discount from their travel insurance costs.

When planning your trip you may be asked about travel insurance. Do not turn it down simply because you do not know what it does. The insurance will cover any lost financial funds made on non refundable tickets or other trip items as well as medical expenses. Domestic and international travelers will be offered travel insurance.

You can purchase travel insurance at the time of booking your trip and it can cover the exact length of your trip or if you would like to be a bit more extensive you can have it cover you continuously by purchasing it through a travel insurance company, travel agent or even through a travel supplier such as a tour operator or cruise line. Be careful when purchasing travel insurance directly through travel suppliers as it tends to be less inclusive than the policies that are offered by the travel insurance companies.

Any type of traveler may purchase the insurance including but not limited to the business traveler, adventure traveler, student traveler and the international traveler. There are many features that can be included in the policies to create the right one for your needs.

Some of the more common coverage items in the travel insurance policy are, medical expenses, injury or disablement benefits, accidental death, curtailment, legal assistance, liability for rental car damages, lost or delayed luggage to cover replacement of essential items, emergency evacuations, damage, theft, or loss of personal items such as money or travel documentation, trip cancellations, overseas funeral costs, and delayed trips.

The policies vary widely depending on travel insurance company and travel supplier. The policy can be customized to meet the traveler’s needs and price. There are some companies that will offer insurance to cover any additional trip expenses that may arise.

You can purchase a separate policy to cover a pre-existing medical condition such as diabetes or asthma as well as one to cover any high risk or dangerous sports such as sky diving, skiing, parasailing or scuba diving. A separate policy can be purchased as well for travel to a high risk country that is known for their terrorist acts, war status or natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, or volcano activity.

There are certain things that are excluded from your basic insurance policy. In most cases any injury or illness that was brought on by alcohol or drugs, a pre existing illness or condition or war and terrorism will be excluded. Some travel insurance companies will allow you to purchase the separate policy for war and terrorism travel.

Travel insurance policies will normally cover pregnancy related expenses during the first trimester. The insurance policy can vary from trimester to trimester so be sure to check with the insurance company about covered pregnancy expenses.

Travel insurance offers services that operate 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Emergency assistance and the concierge services are the most common to be used. You can expect to pay about 5-7% of your total trip cost for your travel insurance policy.

Firstly, a top tip that can save you a bucket load of cash. If the reason that you are selling is simply so that you can buy another timeshare week somewhere else, perhaps at a better resort or more promising location, you should look into part-exchange options before you do anything else.

But if you want to sell for cash…

Step one is to make sure that you haven’t already seeded the coming years occupation rights to an exchange company like RCI. If you have already ceded your week, see if this right to occupy is still transferable.

Get a realistic valuation of your apartment ny looking at what others are selling their weeks for on craigslist, ebay and other websites. Some sales companies may exaggerate what they could obtain for your apartment in order to secure upfront fees.

There are resorts that will tell you that they will sell your week for you. Most do not have an active program, as its far more profitable to sale their own new apartments.

List not only the details of your timeshare for sale but also the main features, just like you would do if you were selling your home or car:

State the obvious like the name of the resort, the time of year, the size of the apartment and so on (how many it will sleep) but also include things like who the trustees are, who manages the property, then go on to state benefits like ‘only a short distance from the airport’ , ‘newly built leisure centre on site’, whatever else is positive.

Describing the things to see and do in the resort area, along with naming major attractions and other benefits, then including pictures of the best features and locations can add significant perceived value for potential buyers.

Selling your timeshare:

The obvious first choice for many is Ebay but if you have no luck (which you probably wont!) …

If your timeshare is great for golf, dont hesitate to get your timeshare on all your local golf club notice boards ” the same applies for (say) bird-watching, fishing or scuba-diving… find the local clubs where you live and let them know!

Look for FREE advertising where possible e.g. craigslist.com , or whatever you can find. Go to any internet search engine and type free advertising and youll get plenty of ideas of where to advertise. Remember: people dont buy products they buy solutions and opportunities ” just like you didnt really buy a timeshare, you bought a luxury vacation opportunity. Make sure that this concept is reflected in your sales copy!

Your local newspaper and many local websites and other advertising sheets can often have an amazing ‘reach’. They almost always offer a free to advertise section so make use of it. And put your adverts where your target market will be looking for them. For example if your timeshare has great fishing nearby, advertise your timeshare for sale under ‘fishing’ rather than ‘travel’ or ‘holiday accommodation’.

A sales card on notices boards, such as at work or in your local supermarket can work wonders. Remember, it’s all in what you say. Try titles like “One Week luxury fishing trip for six people only $4,000″ rather than “unwanted timeshare, $4,000 for quick sale”

You should tell friends and family that you wish to sell ” ask them to tell all of their friends that they know of someone with a timeshare for sale, as soon as the subject of holidays comes up in any conversation (offer a small commission!)

Resale Companies who do not charge upfront fees are always worth a look and Daltons weekly (in the UK) could work well for you too (make your advertisement more personal with testimonials of where you have been using your apartment on an exchange system).

Okay, we’ve touched on it a little already, now to get a better idea of how good sales copy can increase the amount of sales enquriies, take a look at the following two sample advertisements and you’ll probably guess which one will work better every time:

WANT A LUXURY HOLIDAY EVERY YEAR GUARANTEED? Reluctantly selling our 5 star timeshare week, 2 Bed, 2 Bath, luxury fixtures and fittings, choose from any week you want in high season every year. Base resort is in Tenerife. Great resort / view / unit / facilities. Ideal for a family or a couple although weve hardly ever been there as we have exchanged yearly for luxury villas or apartments in Barbados, Florida, Italy and last year Cancun and just paid for cheap flights. Loathed to sell but illness means cannot travel to far! $6,000 ono call Bob or Marie on 555-1515 (private sale)

Timeshare at xyz resort, sleeps 6, week 31, only 6,000 call 555-5515

Last point: it pays to be prepared. Get together all of the legal documentation that you will need to transfer the ownership to someone else. Your home resort should be able to offer assistance here and remember, seek legal advice ALWAYS when dealing with property transactions. Good Luck!

Commencing a journey is usually fraught with many uncertainties. It is a good idea to consider availing travel insurance. It might be needed anytime. It could however be quite trying to choose from the options open before you.The length of time for which you want to have travel insurance plays a vital role in choosing. In essence there are three types of policies. to choose from. These are single trip, annual multi-trip and extended stay. To arrive at a correct choice it is worth to understand all these three types.

Travel insurance policy for single trip covers you for a single return journey. For children insurance these policies also offer discounts. Children are covered for free also. The only condition to be fulfilled is that they should be traveling with an adult, who has also insured with the same policy.

Another sort of policy will suit your flavor if you have to travel frequently. This is an Annual multi-trip policy. With this type of travel insurance policy you can travel as often as you need to. You save not only money with this policy but also many troubles. Besides covering you for multiple trips they also cover children also for free. Trips of 24 to 90 days are taken care of in these policies. If you have to buy separate policies for each trip you will be put to much inconvenience. So in addition to saving you from hassles these are comparatively inexpensive also.

Extended stay policy is most suitable to those who are students, backpackers, or those looking for career change or break. Such travelers risk the loss of some personal possessions and hence need protection for them. Being flexible it is light on your budget. This allows you to choose the accessories and equipments you want to insure. There is a shortcoming also that you cannot get insurance for everything. By not insuring your every thing - except some of those which you consider important or essential ? you can save your expenses. If you travel plans include working also during your stay then this is not covered by the policy. Such cases are covered by gap year policy which includes your work.

You are insured for a specific sum by any travel insurance policy. Medical expenses up to $20 million, luggage loss up to $16,00, trip cancellation up to $3000 for example could be covered by the policy. The situation differs case to case. Your medical emergency decides how much the policy will cover your hospital expenses. Only cases with very serious conditions merit policy coverage.

A correct appraisal of yearly travel frequency and your baggage will help you choose the right policy for yourself. It is all about making a correct estimation. Every case is different. What is good for others may not be suitable to you. Take your case as unique in reaching a decision. Also keep in mind that all travel insurance policies have their estimations, standards and set of rules. Read them all thoroughly before choosing any of them.
