There must be a million different paths to frugal living so the following are just the tip of the iceberg. To find more, you can always search the web or look through my website which have a ton of information on frugal living and saving money.

Open the windows so there’s airflow. You don’t need air conditioning all the time and chances are, it’s actually cooler if you open the windows. The fresh air is also nice too.

There are many free magazines around the web so you really don’t need to pay for most of them. Just search the web for free magazine offers and they will probably give you a complimentary one year subscription.

Cancel your land line because you don’t need it. Cell phone work just as well these days and unless you fax multiple times a day, staples or kinkos will do the trick for fractions of the cost.

Ebay is a great place to sell your junk but the listing fees are really expensive. If you wait until they have promotions, you can list your items for free without fear that the listing fees will eat up your profit.

Coupons used to be a newspaper clipping exercise but not anymore. With online coupon sites, they do all the work while you get all the benefit. All you have to do is just search for them before you buy anything.

Every company seems to want to give away printers these days because they know that it’s the ink that really will cost you a ton of money. Whenever you get a free printer, don’t sell it. Just hook it up when you run out of ink.

Shipping boxes are annoying to keep around the house but they are very useful when you resell your item. You may think that it’s not much money but small costs really add up.

Costco sells forever stamps at about a 10% discount than everywhere else. You are already saving on inflation, why not buy in bulk and save some more?

I used to go to garage sales and just repaint whatever I buy to make them look great. After I do that, I can either sell it or use it because it gives me tons of saving.

Washing machines are loud but they also use up a ton of energy. To save and waste less, just group your clothes together and do a bigger load instead. You will probably find that you can save some time as well.

Not many frugal living methods work as well as the ones I’m listing out below. If you do learn something new and are able to save by following the advice, remember to come back and let us know.

Airflow helps much more than air condition. It’s tempting to just turn on a/c but if you open the windows on both sides of the room, the temperature cools right down.

There are many free magazines around the web so you really don’t need to pay for most of them. Just search the web for free magazine offers and they will probably give you a complimentary one year subscription.

Reception on your mobile phone is good enough to the point that land lines are becoming obsolete. If you want to save some money, it’s probably time to cut the land line out.

Did you know that there are promotions from ebay that let you list items for free? You can save so much money off your listing cost which only improves your ROI.

Coupons used to be a newspaper clipping exercise but not anymore. With online coupon sites, they do all the work while you get all the benefit. All you have to do is just search for them before you buy anything.

Those free printers can never be sold because there are so many free printer offers out there. If you want to save some money, keep them and just plug in a new one every time you run out of ink.

Save those shipping boxes when you order online. While most people will throw them away, you can really save money if you save them so you don’t have to buy them when you resell the item.

Forever stamps might just save you a few cents in your lifetime but you can get additional savings by buying in bulk through Costco.

Go to garage sales and see if you can find something that you can reuse. Someone else’s trash could become your treasure. I know someone who regularly does this and her house is beautiful.

Washing machines are loud but they also use up a ton of energy. To save and waste less, just group your clothes together and do a bigger load instead. You will probably find that you can save some time as well.

Buying clothes may make a huge dent in your savings but it doesn’t have to be that way. I’ve been paying less for clothing for years and now I’m going to share with you some secrets that helps me save money on clothes every time.

Discount stores like TJ Maxx and others actually offer very good bargains. If you are willing to wait a bit to get brand name quality at generic brand prices, look no further.

Many big name retailers have their own discount store division so they can sell older models and clothes that are just stuck in their inventory. Nordstrom has Nordstrom rack, Saks have Off 5th Avenue, among many others.

Outlet malls are like a dream come true for bargain shoppers. There are tons of stores, many of which offer discount items. Be careful though because some stores sell items at full price, so always double check.

When those semi annual sales or Christmas sales come on, remember to run to the stores because the best inventory will always go out first. If you want to save some money, being lazy won’t help.

Some countries just have better deals. Don’t think this is crazy because I know people that actually fly to different countries to buy clothes. Not only is it much more fun, they claim that it’s cheaper as well.

Buying more expensive clothes could actually save you some money. This is because better clothes usually last longer, and since you believe you look better in them, you will wear it more often, making buying new clothes less necessary.

Moving to a warmer climate can also help you save money on clothes because there are just less seasons to deal with. Warmer climate also tends to mean less layers, further reducing your expenses.

Online shopping is actually becoming more and more intelligent. Not only are you saving money, the return policies are getting better and better in case seeing it in person is different than the online picture.

Now that it’s almost back to school, many parents are trying to respond to the question “When am I going to get a laptop”. While it’s clear that all kids need one these days, all parents really want to see if there are coupons available. Here are a couple of suggestions on where to get the best deal.

One of the best places to get a laptop is actually Best Buy. Why? They have stores all over the country, meaning that your kids can go talk to someone (and/or return merchandise) in any of the stores nationwide. In addition, you can get support from their Geek Squad unit, which will help you no matter where you are located.

Amazon is a good place because it has awesome customer support, so I always recommend it. Many people think of them as a books store, but I’m sure the computer you are looking at is available on their website.

Some campuses have computer stores and if those are available, they are the best place to go to because they offer discounts that are unmatchable anywhere else. Of course, they will also help answer any questions in case you (or your kids) have any.

I always see Overstock.com’s stock go down so I didn’t think much of the company but as a consumer, I was pretty impressed with their service. I bought something (with a coupon I might add) and everything arrived on time and expected.

Circuit City was another choice I would recommend but they went out of business in early March. It’s too bad because I actually liked the store and in my view, the more competition the better.

Fry’s Electronics worked like a warehouse and the idea works because their no frills approach gives us better prices. While it’s not a forgone conclusion that they are the lowest, I find that they are usually among the cheapest.

The small mom and pop may still exist in your area (I know it does in Canada) so try there as well. If they are still alive, they must be doing something right so being in business in itself is a very good testimonial.

If you can stop buying clothes, then you don’t need to read this article but don’t kid yourself because no one can do this realistically. Below are a few suggestions for the rest of us who really want to buy but just want to save some money.

Discount stores like TJ Maxx and others actually offer very good bargains. If you are willing to wait a bit to get brand name quality at generic brand prices, look no further.

Many stores have a side division that sells oversupplied inventories and unsold merchandise. Sakes 5th Avenue, Nordstrom all have its own division and prices are really cheap there.

You may need to park really far and pay for overpriced food at the food court but outlet malls have very good prices for clothes. Some may make you line up to go in but do so because the patient ones are the ones with huge bags of goodies when they walk out.

You can also always wait for sales. Every year (usually around the same times and around holidays), clothing stores go on a huge discount. If you can wait, this could mean significant savings.

Different countries have different pricing standards. I know it sounds outrageous but some of my friends actually fly all over the world to buy clothes. They claim that they make their money back because the price difference is so great and they have fun doing it at the same time.

Some people like to buy one piece that is expensive rather than buy several cheaper alternatives. They say that it saves them money because they are able to wear it for longer periods of time and end up saving money that way.

Warmer climates actually help you save money. First, you aren’t wearing so many layers so that’s instant savings. Then, summer type clothes are usually cheaper. Third, you are at the beach all the time so it’s always the same clothes.

Online shopping is actually becoming more and more intelligent. Not only are you saving money, the return policies are getting better and better in case seeing it in person is different than the online picture.

Online shopping is really the future, and Amazon is a great place to not only buy books but laptops as well. I love their customer support, so if there’s anything wrong, just return it with no hassle.

Campus stores are great to buy a laptop because they offer incredible discounts. Why? For one, they buy in bulk and for two, computer companies know that many people stick with the brand they are familiar with, so what better place than to get you while you are still in college?

I always see Overstock.com’s stock go down so I didn’t think much of the company but as a consumer, I was pretty impressed with their service. I bought something (with a coupon I might add) and everything arrived on time and expected.

Mom and pop computer stores pride themselves in services and relationships. It’s hard to compete nowadays because the prices at big retailers are just so low but those that are still alive have great prices, awesome service and unparalleled knowledge.

If you save all the shipping boxes every time you buy something online, I bet you will save a boatload of money since you don’t have to buy boxes when you need to sell the item again later.

Buying forever stamps at Costco in bulk will actually save you some money. It may not be the most efficient but it will save money for sure.

In our modern culture, people tend to feel as if they absolutely must own every single new product that arrives on the market. The truth, though, is that most of all of those cool new gadgets are completely unnecessary for life and really amount to nothing more than an extra expense for you. You can save yourself hundreds or quite possibly even thousands of dollars each and every year by eliminating some of these money wasting extra expenses.

Cancel your phone. Many people pay to have access to both a cell phone and a land line each month. To save yourself some money, decide which one you want to keep and get rid of the other one. Make your decision by comparing how much certain features of each plan cost, like local calls, long distance calls, and call waiting.

Choose whichever one is the best deal and fits your overall needs. If you cut the land line you could save around $50 each month. Getting rid of cell phones could easily double that amount (and it would mean that you COULDN’T be found all the time in all places).

High-speed internet service or dedicated internet service is not usually necessary for ordinary use of the computer. If all you are doing is playing games, then why not buy a CD instead. If you are only logging on to check your emails, then you can save the $50 a month by downgrading to a lower service.

When the need to use a high speed Internet connection does arise, you can use the Internet at a place where it is provided to the public, such as at many libraries.

Cancel your cable. If your family can get rid of cable television entirely, you will be saving time in addition to money. If you cannot completely eliminate cable TV, you can at least switch to the lowest priced monthly plan. Some people claim that you will eventually be able to choose which channels you want to have access to and pay per channel instead of having to buy an entire package.

Cancel subscriptions to magazines and do not get any more. Instead of cluttering up your house with lots of expensive magazines, you can borrow books from the library in your area for free.

Saving money is easy when you identify some extra expenses that can be eliminated. Cutting costs and saving money can actually become quite addictive, especially when you see the results in your bank account.
